StatCounter Review

StatCounter is an award winning site tracking provider. The simplicity behind StatCounter has helped it to stand out in the site tracking industry. They have a great free site tracking package which starts and evaluates the last 100 visitors. They still store all the historical data but the detail is only saved for the last 100. It’s enough information for the average site and their upgrade packages allow for more data and you can pay monthly, quarterly or yearly.

The reason we like StatCounter so much is because of the simplicity (same thing we said earlier). Click on the graph to see graphical data, click on the wrench for setting (tools) and the basic view shows visitors by Today, Yesterday, This Month and Total. Most of the time that is enough information to get you thinking and by simply clicking on the images you can see the more comprehensive data. Try the free version and let us know what you think.

GoStats Review

One of my favorite things about GoStats is the weekly email I get from them with a high level overview of the past weeks data (hits, uniques) and the historical data. It’s nice to not always have to log in and it reminds me that I’m using their service. As far as the beauty behind the interface, there isn’t much. It’s a simple “here’s your data” type interface which I actually appreciate once in a while, but overall, I’d say there’s room for improvement.

The GoStats experience at the free level does have a lot of advertising (like hotmail or a Yahoo email account) but overall the data is real, graphics are simple enough to understand and most importantly, it’s free. You can see a lot of information from Visitor (attendance) data to refrerrer data (links), Systems and geographical information. It’s a great option and the dashboard screenshots are below.
